You may not have heard that the US Government has just announced that they doctors who use anything other than x-ray DR for image acquisition will face less reimbursement in the near future.

Here are the facts: 

  • Medicare reimbursement will be reduced by 20% for “film” studies starting in 2017
  • Reimbursement will be reduced by 7% for CR studies in 2018 and will eventually be reduced by 10%
  • Only studies acquired by DR will earn 100% reimbursement
What this means:
  • Sales of new CR, which were already declining, have slowed to a tickle.
  • Hospitals and clinics are quickly replacing their CR’s with DR.
  • There are a lot of really good CR systems available for resale in the US.
